Our Commitment to Sustainable Travel

At Santa Claus Cottage and Porovaara Reindeer Hill, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. As a family-owned reindeer farm and nature retreat located on nearly 100 hectares of private land in Lapland, we operate with respect for the land, wildlife, and local community.

We are proud to be officially certified by both the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) program and the Biosphere certification — two respected international frameworks that recognize responsible, environmentally conscious tourism. These achievements reflect our long-term commitment to protecting nature, supporting our local community, and offering authentic, low-impact experiences to visitors from around the world.

Our sustainability actions include:

🌱 Electric experiences – Our quiet, low-emission electric snowmobiles and fat bikes let you explore the wilderness with minimal impact on nature.
🔌 EV charging station – An on-site EV charging station is available for guests arriving with electric vehicles.
👣 Locally rooted – Our guides are local experts, and when extra transportation is needed, we work with trusted local partners.
♿ Accessible for all – With accessible toilets and ramp-equipped buildings, everyone can enjoy the Porovaara experience comfortably.
🦌 Reindeer care & nature connection – Our reindeer live in their natural environment and are treated with deep care and respect.
